Event at Davies Symphony Hall

The San Francisco Symphony and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco partnered together to create an event for recently discharged patients and their families. This event at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco was held on Sunday, December 10th and it was closed to the public. The performance was designed to meet the complex medical needs of our patients. It included having spaces for multiple children with wheelchairs, more space between seats for patients who are immunocompromised, and having seats in places near outlets for medical equipment. In addition, UCSF provided Spanish and ASL interpreters to support these patients attending the event.

The performance included Peter and Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. The narrator for this piece was Tom Kenny, an actor who is famous for voicing the cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants. The concert ended with a singalong of some holiday favorites.

It was an overwhelming success and we’re so grateful for the amazing partnership with the San Francisco Symphony. This was a special opportunity for families with medically complex children to attend a concert together. We hope to have many more events like this in the future!
