May is Mental Health Awareness month
The global pandemic has been especially hard for our parents and caregivers who were required, for a time, to be in the hospital alone with their children. They were separated from other children in the home, from partners and family members in an effort to protect our most vulnerable patients.
The Child Life Services team at UCSF wanted to provide wellness offerings to our parents and caregivers to support their mental health and wellbeing during this time. Through a partnership with Kaleidoscope studio and the parent liaisons in the Center for Families we created the Wellness Hour. We offer pre-recorded content played twice a day. Content includes music for relaxation, fitness, yoga, relaxation exercises, Qigong and expressive art. We encourage families to participate and also give us feedback for new ideas and offerings. Do you have an idea to support our parents and caregivers? If so please reach out to bchcreativearts@gmail.com.
