During this internship, she is working under Matt in hematology, oncology, BMT and pediatric rehabilitation. She loves building relationships with her patients and families, and it is especially meaningful to her that she gets to do so through her passion for music.

Briana’s primary instrument is the guitar which she started playing when she was 12. She is a strong advocate for music therapy and in her spare time, she enjoys making informational videos about music therapy for prospective students and sharing her journey to becoming a board certified music therapist . When not at work, you can always find Briana with a camera in hand, exploring the city & going on adventures with her family and friends.

Madelene

Madelene is a graduate of University of the Pacific, Stockton with a B.M. in music therapy and a minor in speech language pathology. Her primary instrument is voice. For this internship, she is working under Jenny in the Intensive Care, Transitional Care, and Medical/Surgical Care units. She is super excited to work with patients and families of various backgrounds here at UCSF Benioff, and she strives to create a safe space through music where all are welcome!

In addition to music, Madelene is actively involved in her Filipino & Fil-Am community through various organizations, where she regularly leads and attends workshops, spreads awareness on current issues, and shares knowledge of Filipino/Fil-Am culture and history with her community. She also loves dancing both modern and cultural dances! She currently dances with Parangal Dance Company, a Filipino Folk Dance group based in SF. When she’s not doing music therapy, you can find Madelene making music covers on YouTube or dancing cultural dance performances around the Bay Area!
