Music @ Pediatric Intensive Care

Music-Group---1.png

We have a new music therapy group on our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)! Each week we bring together patients and families on the "Panhandle" hallway to sing, play instruments, and learn new skills. This is a great way to support our patients' development and give them a fun and normal experience of being together with same aged peers.

Most of our patients in the PICU are not able to leave the unit during their stay and have limited opportunities to socialize with other kids; through this group, we are bringing the playroom to them by creating a group experience in the hallway. Staff often join us and participate by singing and dancing, and report that this is a great part of their week as well. I look forward to seeing how this group grows and changes as new patients come onto the unit. Stay tuned for more updates soon!
