Introducing Our New Per Diem Music Therapist

Cameron Wood is a board-certified music therapist at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Mission Bay. She works here two days per week and also provides additional coverage when needed. When she isn't at the hospital, Cameron is self-employed in private practice and works with group and individual clients throughout the Bay Area. Her clients are children and adults with physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, dementia, stroke recovery and more. She is the CEO of Share Music Therapy, an organization that publishes books and journals with the goal of educating the general public about evidence-based music therapy. SMT's mission is to increase access to music therapy in the United States.

Cameron earned a Bachelor of Music and a Minor in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at New York University. Then, she earned a Bachelor-equivalency degree in Music Therapy at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. Cameron completed her music therapy internship at Mount Sinai Hospital's Louis Armstrong Department of Music Therapy in New York City, where she became certified in Rhythm Breath and Lullaby method for neonatal intensive care.

Cameron was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, where she enjoyed skiing with her parents and fraternal twin sister. She has fallen in love with California and lives just South of San Francisco in the coastal town of Pacifica. In her free time, Cameron can be found hiking with her dog or surfing.
