Make Music Day

Did you know that June 21st is World Music Day? (I did not.) The celebration originated in France in 1982 and has since become a holiday celebrated around the world. You can learn more about it here.

This year we brought the celebration to our hospital. We invited UCSF staff who are also musicians to join us and play music in the lobby throughout the day. A huge thank you to all of our staff who helped make this happen!

It was a really special day. Patients, families, and staff came to listen and participate. Some stayed for multiple sets of music and others were able to hear a few minutes while they were on their way to their next location. We got some great feedback from our musicians and community throughout the day.

We hope to expand this effort next year to include even more opportunities for our patients, families, and community to experience a day full of live music. Stay tuned!
