Video: Healing Through Music Therapy at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals

Trying to describe the work of a music therapist can be a challenge because it looks different every day. Music therapy is adaptable, meeting patients where they are—whether it’s providing comfort during difficult moments, fostering connection with loved ones, or supporting rehabilitation and developmental milestones. Sometimes, the best way to understand it is to see it in action.

Last year, UCSF’s film crew followed our music therapists at both the San Francisco and Oakland campuses to capture the heart of this work and the impact it has on hospitalized patients and their families.

Has music therapy touched your life? We’d love to hear your story—share your experience in the comments!

Our program is entirely donor-supported, and every gift makes a difference in bringing the healing power of music to patients who need it most. If you believe in the power of music therapy, please consider making a donation to help sustain and grow our services.
